Highlands Whisky
The Highland region in the largest whisky region of Scotland. With the exception of Speyside, Campbeltown and Islay, everything north of Glasgow and Edinburgh is classed as the Highlands! Historically, due to the wild and remote nature of the region, illicit whisky production was a common practice.
Though hard to classify a particular style, Highland whisky can be broadly separated into North - Big, sweet and rich, South - Light, dry and fruity, East - fruity and dry, while on the Western side, a more pungent and smokey whisky can occur.
