Basic Features

Both Free and PRO plans include the BRMB Maps Basemap, which features the same industry-leading cartographic detail with topographic relief and unparalleled road & trail coverage found in the mapbooks.

Here are some of the features included in the Basemap:

Adventure Layers (PRO)

BRMB Maps shows you thousands of attractions you will encounter while travelling along Canada’s highways and backroads. This includes historic sites, roadside oddities, museums, hot springs, waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries, geological formations, scenic driving routes, lighthouses, mine sites, ghost towns, caves and more.

Looking at our maps, you will find a wealth of fishing information. Most notably, fish-bearing lakes and streams are marked with a fish symbol, while stocked lakes and streams have a special fish stocking symbol to help locate those enhanced fisheries.

Also included in BRMB maps are man-made features such as boat launches, campsites, dams, fishing resorts, portages, fish hatcheries and spawning ladders, plus natural features including beaches, waterfalls, wetlands and more. In coastal areas, we also show you anchorages, lighthouses and fishing hot spots.

As an added bonus, many of the lakes contain bathymetric data or lake depth contours to help locate drop-offs, deeper holes, shoals and other fish attracting features.

Hunting areas are supplemented with descriptions noting big and small game species, specific hunting regulations and tips & techniques.

With 12 species-specific layers, you can easily identify special draw hunting areas for your target game.

Canoeists and kayakers will find a wealth of paddling information on the maps including clearly charted paddling routes and portages, plus put-in/take-out locations, water-access campsites, beaches and more. Paddling routes are supplemented with descriptions that include information on route distance, difficulty, access and more.

BC Marine Trails is a non-profit organization working together to help secure long term public access to the BC coast. Their mission is to work with First Nations and stakeholders to build, protect and promote a public network of marine trails allowing recreational navigation of the BC coastline with minimal impact on the environment.

The wildlife viewing areas shown on our maps are supplemented with written descriptions compiled by our team of outdoor writers and researchers. These descriptions include information on access and directions, wildlife species, the best time of day or year to view wildlife and migratory birds, contact information and more.

Extra Layers (PRO)

On the BRMB Maps app, you can easily switch between the Basemap and high-resolution satellite imagery in the Layers menu.

If you’re using the web map, you can switch between Satellite Maps and 6 additional Premium maps. You can also enjoy advanced map features like 3D View and Traffic conditions.

This layer features Crown Land in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia.

Private Land is available for British Columbia, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

This layer includes critical information about Motorized Closures, Watershed Closures, Wildlife Closures, Snowmobile Closures, and other restricted areas.

This layer highlights active industry and recreation roads.

Stay informed with real-time data on active wildfires and historic fire areas categorized by different timeframes.

Advanced Tools (PRO)

No need to worry about losing service! You can download selected map areas, including BRMB Adventure layers and high-resolution satellite imagery, for offline use. The Offline Maps tool offers different zoom levels based on your planned activity.

The smartphone App features an advanced search with all the BRMB Adventure POIs found on the maps and a basic address search powered by Mapbox.

Use the BRMB points of interest and trails to create custom Trips on the Web Map and access advanced tools such as the ability to import and export tracks (GPX or KML), search and request directions, draw custom lines and more.

Create custom printed topographic maps with multiple scales and material options, and the ability to include adventure layers of your choice, your waypoints and tracks & map name. Learn more

You can share your photos with other users and review your Adventures. PRO users can also report incorrect or missing information on the map.

To use this feature, simply select any BRMB point of interest, track, or waypoint and select “Update Map” or “Send update to BRMB Maps.” This will open a text box where you can inform us about any necessary map updates.
